Health Snacks had never had a major presence in Japan
The plant in Mexico produced small appliances such as toasters, irons, blenders, coffee machines. Moreover, the factory produces parts for washing machines-tion to be assembled by the American subsidiary of a multinational. Small appliances were mainly the domestic market, while the washing ma-chines were both the domestic and export, mainly to other North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) countries. Over the last two years the production lines had been upgraded to make use of the latest manufacturing technology. Projections call for future expansion and increasing profits.
A few weeks ago, Van West had received a call from the production director of the American subsidiary that produced washing machines. The manager expressed concern about the quality and timeliness of delivery of the spare machine. The number of defective parts had increased substantially over the last three months, and five times the parts were delivered late enough to affect production schedules for washing machines.
Van West had spoken with Hernandez on the problem; Hernandez did not seem to think it was a big problem, but promised to investigate. However, Van West was concerned, and has begun to check on his own. He went to the factory floor. In the past, was never left alone; Hernandez was always with him. Van West felt a little ‘uncomfortable and intimidated. His Spanish was limited, which had three years of high school, and though he began taking private lessons after his arrival in Mexico, has been slow going and he was conscious of making mistakes. The line supervisor, Duarte Gonzales, spoke enough English to carry around.
Gonzalez mentioned some difficulty with some of the new machines and the reasons that had broken several times. He also indicated that some newer employees were long-time dedicated employees. Gonzalez Hernandez did not speak, but Van West gathered that their relationship was a little ‘tense. It ‘grew concerned that Hernandez had never mentioned any of these problems and decided to talk about Hernandez again to emphasize the importance of quality and timeliness of delivery. Health Food is a major manufacturer of ready meals and health foods. The company had registered several patents to extend shelf life while maintaining quality. The company recorded revenues of approximately $ 3,000,000,000 and had branches in 30 countries worldwide. Last year about 34 percent of company revenue came from international sales. Tim Davis, president for international operations and Health Snack Carter’s predecessor, was given the task of exploring the expansion into the Japanese market.
When Van West Henandez talked the next day, Hernandez put aside the party machine. Gonzales was exaggerating the problems. Sure, there were some problems in the past, but nothing to worry about. Things would be just fine. However, he also noted that Van West should make some concessions to local attitudes to work. He said .- “You know things are freer here. We can expect the same performance you are used to. Take it easy, what each will do. Do not worry. Leave it to me. I know how to care of things.
Hernandez came from a distinguished Mexican family. His grandfather was a prominent surgeon, and his father was a prominent lawyer. Hernandez had gone to the best schools in Mexico and received an MBA from the University of Michigan. He knew everyone of importance in the business world of Mexico City.

Open Letter to My Wife
A husband wrote to his wife Asia Asia about the truth in their relationship, in 32 years, and the final separation between them. A true life story of worst blow to the relationship of husband and wife and between children and their parents.
You were my “love at first sight ‘on the wedding night of December 12, 1976. I’ve never seen before, even in a photo. You know it was an arranged marriage the parents. You were the second woman he loved in my life other than my great, great mother, great who also lived at that time. My first glance I was elated at the depth of my heart. You were so beautiful, so elegant and so near that those moments always remained fresh in my memory. I knew then that my dream had come true.
Our first child was born Uzma at a time that I had changed only for a new job in a new organization. I was learning and performing at the same time in a very messy and very demanding. You thought I was’nt happy about the birth of a daughter as our first child and you can not forget either. There was no reason to be unhappy. She was so beautiful, so healthy and so beautiful that nobody could ignore. Moreover, it was our first child. Perhaps, I could’nt give you and your child as long as you expected, you may be rightly so, because I was going through a very difficult time in my care.
It could, however, remember how I took care of her. She never missed any vaccination. Your medical history is clear of it. Never hesitate to take the expert in family relationships whenever she got sick with minor ailments even late at night. Do you know why I did it? I did’nt want to lose. Because I loved her so much. It was our first child.
You know how much I struggled to get the best school for her, going to one school after another. Ultimately she was admitted to the Mama Parsi Girls Secondary School, her dream school for their daughters, after months of preliminary work and persuasion. When it came to an admission on their own efforts in the Karachi Grammar School, I had to borrow money from a friend to pay admission fees substantially.
When he joined the MBA, I paid their admission fees. She continued her education on her own but who lived with us and have paid for their expenses. I always took care of her in everything I could over from his days with us until his wedding. I admit that I could’nt daughter foster parent Uzma regarding the way it should have been but you know why. Do not step entirely my fault. In fact, you fit yourself Uzma could’nt liberal attitude.
When Beenish landed in our family, things were completely different. We were financially well off, comfortable and happy. She was another nice addition to our family. You know how I dealt with education, schooling, and the wedding. She received not only love me, but also support at all times. She received the best education, best opportunity to do what I wanted to do and the best daughter-father relationship.
Sara was the third daughter in a row. I was’nt at all unhappy at his birth. I never thought children were less worthy than children. It was so pretty and beautiful like Uzma. She received all the love and care of me and went to the best schools and universities. I helped as much as possible and enjoyed a healthy father-daughter relationship.
Taha was our first child, fulfilling his dream. I loved him as much as I loved my daughters. He always have my support whenever necessary. I have it to the best schools. He fought his battles. Never erupted with him. I tried to encourage in every possible way to be bold, courageous and live a decent life. He loved me too. He used to call my phone every time it takes to go home. Just as he did.
Talal was our second child. I loved him as much as I loved Taha. He always my support whenever necessary. I have it to the best schools. I supported his desire to send Talal Madressah for Hifz-e-Qur’an (learning Quran by heart). I looked for the best school after his death from Madressah and got him admitted in one of the best schools, from class 6th to August.
You were always the focus for me. That was the only reason why boys could’nt get the same attention they deserved. But you understand that none of the children are deprived of love and care about me in any manner whatsoever. I tried to compensate for lost time whenever he could. None of the children could cite an incident in which lapsed in my responsibility to take care of my family.
I deeply admire her dedication to family. You never hesitated to do what I could for the family did’nt even though his poor health permit. You have made the family lived comfortably and happily. I give 100 percent marks for his commitment.
What was lost over 32 years of our married life is the emotional side of our relationship. For you, the material welfare was good enough for me it was only a part. You did’nt care to express your love, appreciation of my role as husband and father and admiration for the love and care you gave and children and how I managed to make everything comfortable, at what cost of stress work and what is the cost of my own health. The emotional void in me was like a “wound of living.”
You probably never realized how I was mentally distraught over all these years of constant illness. You had one illness after another. Often accompanies any type of medical and spiritual healing, but always thought it had’nt done much and it was his mother who did it. How humiliating for me? His illness perennial reluctance to the emotional connection with me and my constant work stress were sometimes too much for me to bear. So, sometimes, I missed temperament not only at home but also in the workplace. But those moments were of short duration, less frequent and not as intense as perceived.
I had been waiting for words of appreciation, encouragement and admiration for what I did for you and the children within our resources. You were quick to criticize alone or in the presence of children, but never quick to appreciate any of my good deeds alone or in the presence of children. The same attitude extends to children. It was you who taught the children that their mother and brothers did much more than I did for the family.
In the 33 years of our marriage, I had a sudden brain wave that I was responsible for his mental and physical illnesses. I was’nt taking medicines when we married. Since then, he always remained on drugs. Have you ever blame you for it? On two occasions, I had to be admitted to the hospital for bleeding ulcers. Do you blame? I admired and appreciated every time you did something that I liked, though not for me. Have you ever expressed admiration and appreciation for everything I did for you and your children?
Often complained about the intensity of my anger. Have you ever calculated how many times I lost my temper and why? Have you ever despised your father and brothers for their extreme anger? Have you ever despised his father for beating his mother nearly every day? “His mother left his father to do? Have you ever hit or slap you? Have you ever disliked her mother reprimanded for having sometimes very strong words to the point that even stopped talking to you while you were married already?
You left home because his brothers could afford the cost of your home. What would you do if you could’nt? Can you provide the same standard of living and the luxuries of life that I did? Why are different to maintain the standard of living for their families and to you and the children if they are really loving and caring as you and believe that children?
Do you know what your brothers did before me my older brother and the eldest son. They shouted at me, abusing me and humbled me in a move that could never imagine. Did you ever fight with your brothers? Have you ever refuse to do anything for them at any point in time? Have you ever refuse to do anything for his mother and sister and other relatives at any point in time? Your mother said so much against me and so many false accusations leveled after our separation, I could never imagine. I always treated her like my mother. I have always treated their brothers like my brothers. I’ve always treated her sister as my sister. I have always treated his family like mine.
You took her two children Sarah and me. Do they belong to you alone? Did’nt I can do something for them in life? You did’nt let me meet or communicate with me somehow. You did’nt bother to talk to me on the phone or face to face at any point of time since you left the house. You were the first to go to the CPLC to apply against me. Do I file a claim against you and your brothers unpleasant? Did I say you are divorced, but you and your brothers made on the basis of false documents and false? You recorded statement against me with the police. I did’nt. ‘re Poisoned ‘Uzma and Beenish and their husbands on me. Therefore, they decided to sever its relations with me. What wrong have I done for them?
I did’nt choose to remarry, although I was offered the choice. I did’nt leave. I did’nt ask the children to leave you and live with me. I did everything I bring you back home, but that was its strength. He never told me why you left the house in the first place. You did’nt bother to give me the address where you happened while I was out of town. You let the kids meet me when I returned to Karachi.
Love does’nt simply evaporate, no matter what the cause. Love is the binding force between husband and wife. It is the power that helps both to overcome the worst of times. I have sent sms to many emails and letters to induce you to come back but did’nt bother to answer or talk to me. I asked for a meeting with you several times to know what I wanted, which did’nt respond. I asked him to come to Lahore with or without children and that his physical and psychiatric treatment, but did’nt bother to respond. Your mother and your brothers are determined to hide his true condition from you for their own ulterior motives. I know, but I can not do anything because it is on their side.
You know my nature. Begging is not my style. I can live to die but not die to touch her feet. I will not live long unless God wills otherwise. But let me assure you and your children, married and single, you will learn the hard way what marriage break-up of the media. I wish I had left shortly after our marriage so that I could easily forget. It can never be able to forget that this is something beyond my control. You know I could’nt live without you for more than a few days, the longest time I lived without you was your day-Hajj 40. I did’nt stop you from going to perform Hajj with his parents but did’nt bother to ask me to accompany him.
You know I almost did not mourn. But I cried so much, so hard and so desperately in the last five months of our separation, I never did before in my entire life, not for repentance of any kind, but by a deep sense of betrayal on his part. I’m lost, unable to figure out how you could just walk away and refuse to return, that my children could cut their relationship with me so abruptly. How you could take part with his mother and his brothers, in preference to me! I am unable to find the answers and so are my relatives, and family alike. The only explanation I could imagine is that I never really wanted. But then, is not my fault. I loved and I loved you like no one’s love one person. So, why on earth who should be punished.
